Curacao is a safe, friendly island - as long as you don't do anything that you would never do back home.

For example:

  • ensure that doors and windows are closed and locked when you leave
  • don't leave valuable items (laptops, phones, jewellery, cameras etc) in plain sight - especially in your car
  • be particularly careful on the roads at night

(One of the downsides of living in the tropics.)

To ensurethat rats, mice, ants and cockroaches don't move in with you, always:

  • leave the inside and outside of the house clear of food or drink residue and trash
  • wash down surfaces immediately after eating or drinking
